HYDRAULIC TEST SUPERVISOR

Our client is small and friendly, family‑owned hydraulic engineering company based on the Euroway Estate just off the M606 in Bradford. Established in 1984, yet they work in partnership with five of the world’s leading hydraulic manufacturers and have built a strong reputation for quality and reliability.

They are looking for a Test Engineer to join and manage/supervise their experienced test team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer or someone with a strong engineering background who wants to build and develop specialist hydraulic skills.

The Role

The ideal hyrdualic test engineer will work within the test department, you’ll be involved in a wide variety of testing and hydraulic work. You’ll be expected to work as part of a team, producing high‑quality work to tight tolerances with a right‑first‑time and can do attitude.

Key duties include:

• Responsible for the safe and timely testing of pumps, motors, valves and transmissions , KPI : Test 3 - 4 Units per day
• Responsible for liaising with customers when required
• Responsible for the enforcing of health and safety of the test department and all people that work in or visit it and the management of the test team in the test department
• Responsible for the positive, cohesive leadership of the test team, identifying any gaps in knowledge, assisting in the continual improvement of personnel and the workplace so that the team can work safely and efficiently
• Informing the workshop manager promptly of any issues that will have a negative impact on the job in hand or business in general.
• Liaising with workshop manager and commercial manager to formulate a test schedule / priority list and advise when units are complete / returned to bench etc (Daily).
• Expected to work proactively and ensure any potential issues are not allowed to happen/are caught early and not allowed to develop
• Responsible to ensure that the test team have the correct and safe tools/equipment to  carry out their duties and that they are maintained properly in accordance with best industry practice
• Plan in maintenance time to carry out any required works.
• Ensure that no downtime is accrued due to faulty equipment/lack of preparedness
• Communicate positively and effectively with the build team, workshop office and management keeping management up to date of progress and assisting the build team to rectify faults when issues occur on test rig – OFI recording.
• Responsible for the culmination of budgets for tooling or maintenance required in the test department and submitting to the workshop manager
• Ensure that all test department certification and calibration records are kept up to date and notify management if any critical equipment is out of cert
• Ensure that all checks and required logs are detailed and maintained as per matrix timescales. Teams and Daily Record to be updated daily
• Ensure all documentation is correct and test procedures are recorded and filed appropriately.

What you will have to offer...

• Several years experience in managing a test environment
• Qualifications in hydraulic pump, motor, valve and transmission test is desirable but not essential.
• Competent in IT skills and usage of Microsoft programs.
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements when working in the workshop.
• Familiar with the working functions of hydraulic systems/components

Hours of Work

• Monday to Thursday: 7:00am to 3:30pm
• Friday: 6:00am – 2:30pm can be flexible, but nice early finsihes
