Interim Plant Manager
West Yorkshire
Interim Fixed Term Contract 6months| Immediate Requirement

Elevation Recruitment Group is supporting a well-established engineering and manufacturing business with the confidential appointment of an experienced Interim Plant Manager.

The successful individual will provide hands-on leadership across a complex, project-led manufacturing operation. The immediate priority will be to strengthen operational control, improve production performance and support the management team through a period of change and improvement.

This is a visible leadership role with responsibility across production, manufacturing engineering, maintenance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the day-to-day manufacturing operation and delivery of the production plan
• Improving output, productivity, labour efficiency and on-time delivery
• Introducing clear daily management routines and performance reporting
• Identifying and resolving production bottlenecks, capacity constraints and material-flow issues
• Improving quality performance and reducing defects, rework and operational disruption
• Developing supervisors and operational teams through visible, hands-on leadership
• Strengthening operating procedures, accountability and performance management
• Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, Planning, Quality and HSE
• Improving the use and accuracy of manufacturing planning and operational data
• Reviewing maintenance arrangements for business-critical plant and equipment
• Maintaining effective control of labour, manufacturing and operational costs
• Leading structured Lean and continuous-improvement activity

We are looking for:

• Sector experience within heavy engineering, engineered-to-order, capital equipment, electrical products or another low-volume, technically complex manufacturing environment would be particularly relevant.
• An experienced Interim Plant Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager or Head of Production
• A strong track record within engineering, industrial or technically complex manufacturing
• Experience leading operational improvement or manufacturing transformation
• A practical and visible leadership style, with the ability to engage people at every level
• Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, material flow and structured problem-solving
• Good experience of ERP/MRP-led manufacturing environments
• The ability to assess an operation quickly, establish priorities and deliver measurable results
• Strong communication, data analysis and organisational skills
• Relevant manufacturing, engineering, Lean or health and safety qualifications would be beneficial

This assignment would suit an experienced interim leader who is comfortable working at pace, bringing greater structure and control to an operation while maintaining customer delivery.
