Job Title: Bookkeeper
Location: Central Leeds
Salary: Around £30,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience
Working Pattern: Full-time or part-time - 3, 4 or 5 days per week

An established accountancy practice based in central Leeds is looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper to join their bookkeeping team.

The position offers flexibility around working hours, with the option to work 3, 4 or 5 days per week. The minimum requirement for a part-time arrangement is three days per week.

The successful candidate will manage bookkeeping work for a varied portfolio of clients, ranging from smaller businesses through to larger clients. The role will involve regular client contact and a variety of bookkeeping responsibilities, including VAT returns and work relating to Making Tax Digital (MTD).

The practice has also recently gained a number of new clients, creating a strong pipeline of bookkeeping work and the potential for the position to develop into a full-time role.

• Managing bookkeeping requirements for a varied portfolio of clients.

• Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a range of businesses.

• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.

• Supporting clients with their ongoing bookkeeping requirements.

• Working with a variety of clients, including specialist sectors such as dental practices.

• Supporting Making Tax Digital (MTD) work, including quarterly submissions for self-employed clients.

• Dealing with a mixture of smaller bookkeeping jobs and more substantial client assignments.

• Liaising directly with clients and providing a responsive bookkeeping service.

• Potentially attending client sites where required.

• Around 3 years' bookkeeping experience is preferred.

• Previous experience within an accountancy practice would be advantageous, particularly experience managing bookkeeping for multiple clients.

• Candidates from an internal/industry bookkeeping background will also be considered, provided they have the ability to adapt to managing a varied client portfolio.

• Strong practical bookkeeping knowledge and attention to detail.

• Good client communication skills.

• Experience with accounting software is required, with QuickBooks being the main system used by the practice.

• Experience with Xero would also be useful.

• Experience with other systems such as Sage will also be considered, as the practice is comfortable training good bookkeepers on different systems.

• Previous MTD experience is not essential, as this is an area the team is continuing to develop and learn.

• Around £30,000 FTE, dependent on experience.

• Part-time salary paid pro rata.
