Commercial AC / Refrigeration Engineer



West Yorkshire / M62 Corridor | £20 to £21 per hour + Door-to-Door Pay

£20 to £21 per hour | Door-to-Door | 1.5x & 2x Overtime | £150 Standby | Van + Private Use Option | 40 Hours

A Commercial Refrigeration Engineer position covering West Yorkshire and the M62 corridor, with the role approximately 70% refrigeration and 30% air conditioning.

This is a good fit for an engineer whose background is primarily in commercial refrigeration and who wants a varied service and maintenance role rather than supermarket work.

The work covers established customer sites across food production, convenience retail, education, hospitality and commercial premises, including systems ranging from individual refrigeration equipment through to larger pack and multi-compressor systems.

The Role

You'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial refrigeration and some air conditioning equipment across a varied portfolio of sites.
The refrigeration side is the priority, with approximately 70% of the workload focused on refrigeration.
Typical sites include:

• Food factories and food processing facilities
• Larger convenience stores
• Schools and education sites
• Pubs and clubs
• Commercial premises
• Sites with refrigeration pack systems
• Multi-compressor refrigeration systems
• Cold rooms and associated commercial refrigeration equipment

There is no supermarket work and no CO2 refrigeration involved.
The role includes a mixture of planned preventative maintenance, servicing, fault finding and reactive breakdowns. There is also regular opportunity to pick up additional overtime, particularly during the summer months.
Weekend work is available where required, including PPM work at factories and other sites that can be accessed outside normal operating hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Service and maintain commercial refrigeration systems
• Diagnose electrical and refrigeration faults
• Carry out reactive repairs and breakdowns
• Complete planned preventative maintenance
• Work on refrigeration pack systems and multi-compressor equipment
• Service and maintain some commercial air conditioning systems
• Attend customer sites across the Yorkshire and M62 corridor
• Complete service reports and relevant paperwork
• Maintain high standards of customer service
• Participate in a 1 in 7 standby rota
• Take advantage of additional overtime where available

What You'll Need

You'll ideally be an experienced Refrigeration Engineer, Commercial Refrigeration Engineer or Refrigeration Service Engineer with a solid background in service and maintenance.
You'll need:

• Commercial refrigeration service and repair experience
• Experience fault finding on refrigeration systems
• Experience with pack systems or multi-compressor systems would be beneficial
• F-Gas certification
• Relevant refrigeration qualifications
• A full UK driving licence
• Good customer-facing skills
• Flexibility to participate in the 1 in 7 standby rota

Air conditioning experience is useful, but refrigeration experience is the main requirement.
Engineers based around Huddersfield, Halifax, Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, Barnsley, Sheffield, Rochdale or Oldham are encouraged to apply.
